Shaking Rose’s hand felt like shaking with a life-size Barbie doll — plastic, hollow and lifeless. She was nice enough. The competition was horrifying. We spied Miss Texas wearing skin-tight bedazzled jeans and our hearts sunk. Patterson and I shirked away from the Rose garden and attempted to chat it up with two other female potentials there. Just as I started back to the party, Patterson tripped into the bathroom. This classy lady, whipped a smirk at me, tussled her auburn hair and pranced out of the powder room.
TalkItOver: The only dating show that begins in bed
It is with heavy heart that I must announce that British reality TV is at it again. There is a new show, and it is called Undressed , and here is what happens: Two single people go into a dark-looking studio, undress each other down to their underwear, then lie on a bed and have a strictly timed half-hour date while a massive projector screen in front of them relays various directions.
You are thinking: Man, that sounds sexy. Surprisingly it is not. Undressed feels like an odd peek 20 or 30 years into a dystopian future, when couples are picked via a database of their likes, dislikes, genetic inclination and blood, marched by armored police into designated romance rooms, and instructed to kiss and undress.
The show, called Undressed, originated in Italy and is now heading to TLC for a UK adaptation. It sees two people getting into bed in their undies.

The two flirt for a few moments, kiss and then go Later, Kai crawls into bed with Jenna, who has slept through the entire debacle, and the two embrace.
How do you inventively parody the dating show genre when it practically parodies itself? Ken Marino has a few ideas on how it should be done. Marino tells PopcornBiz how a silly notion suddenly became an all-star web sensation. Do you watch reality TV because your wife loves it and you’re in the room while the TV is on, or are you into it yourself? I watch it. There are people who watch it kind of ironically, to kind of sit there and make fun of it, and then I think there’s another group of people who watch it to get swept away in the romance of it and the drama of it all.
I think I land somewhere in the middle. I was originally watching it ironically, and it’s not that I get swept up in the romance and the drama of it all completely, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that I have a special place in my heart for those types of shows. There’s a guilty pleasure about them that I can’t escape. I think the same holds true with her. We can’t help but watch.
During your show business rise did you ever have a manager or an agent try to talk you into going on one of these shows? Oh, God, no. I’m not nearly as handsome or as charismatic as the gentlemen on those shows.

The promo clip shows two potential? The room looks sparse, with only a big bed in the middle and a giant screen where instructions like “undress each other” and “get on the bed” play. TBH, this show sounds like my personal nightmare, as I don’t think I could fully open up to anyone let alone a potential partner while stressed out over my period-stained underwear or the fact that my bra has had underwire poking out of it for the last three wash cycles.
But, that doesn’t mean it won’t work for everyone!

It looks like we’re getting a dating show where two strangers actually undress each other and climb into bed on a first date. Suitably titled.
I needed a show with the soothing domestic rhythms of Terrace House , but with even lower stakes. Lee Hyori goes swimming in the waters of Jeju Island, a volcanic island off the south coast of Korea, and then putters around her home there with her husband, Lee Sangsoon, as they prepare puer tea and awkwardly discuss the fact that there are now cameras on in every part of their house. From there, they go shopping for extra comforters and a hoard of groceries to prepare their home — their actual, real home, not a producer-rented location — to become a bed and breakfast.
Starting the show cold, with no K-pop knowledge, I could tell Lee Hyori was quite famous, and really not much more. I was devastated to think Lee Hyori was going to become a middle of nowhere island housewife. Hyori and Sangsoon are joking and affectionate, cranky and forbearing, but always a team, and seem genuinely in love with each other. Sangsoon comes off as a rock for Hyori — both as a musical collaborator and as someone who feeds the dogs every morning and happily folds laundry.
Guests on the show frequently remark to each other that Sangsoon is much more handsome in person.

In case you were wondering just how far Reality TV could take dating shows, this is it.
